Ceramic Masks for sale - Ceramic Skulls for sale

The imaginative sculptures featured on this site are all ceramic. That is, they are made of clay and fired in a pottery kiln.

The Masks and the Skulls are all limited editions.

These are all original designs that were initally modelled in a solid lump of clay. (Except the goat skull and fox skull -- which were made from real skulls).

The model was then cast in plaster-of-paris. Each of the masks only needed a one piece mold while some of the skulls needed almost 20 different plaster sections to make the mold.

Once there is a dry plaster mold, clay is used to create an impression of the mold. This is the final form that then needs some finishing touches before it is fired to a very high temperature.

There is a very finite number of impressions that can be taken from a mold before it starts to deteriorate. Hence the editions of each of these sculptures is very small, maybe as small as 30. Because the design of each of these sculptues is completely original, and they are produced in limited editions, these ceramic masks and ceramic skulls, can be classified as fine art objects.

These contemporary sculptures can be used as both indoor sculptures and garden decor art. They make very good ceramic gifts and presents.
