It has been too hot to spend time in front of the computer lately, but I’ve still been photographing things around the house. How about these three ay? The grass hopper was on a plant at the back door and was there all day. He just wouldn’t go until I took his picture!

The owl seemed to be lost. He was very active, but I guess only because there were pee wees that wouldn’t leave him alone. Maybe he should have been deeply asleep somewhere safe, but instead he was flying between the trees in our garden. In this photo he is in a claret ash and has a good view over the whole garden. I don’t know what sort of bird it is, but because his eyes are on the front of his face, and not around to the side a bit, I assume he is an owl rather than a hawk. He might be a brown hawk owl, but I have never seen one before. I don’t know.

The last photo is our regular visitor, or neighbour! He lives under the floor of the outside toilet (dunny). We put a stone path around the toilet and edged it with bricks, but we had to leave a little space for him to get through. In the photo he is sunning himself in his doorway.
