She is an excellent teacher. The lessons are fun and she is meticulous. After going over some work she asks 你有问题吗？I usually reply I have no questions, and she proceeds to ask me questions. And lo and behold there is often stuff that I didn’t know that I didn’t know! I thought I understood it all, but there were things that I hadn’t grasped. I really appreciate this.
What I find very challenging is when XuNi asks me to tell her what a reading passage is about. Not read it, but re-word it and just talk! But that is what I want to be able to do, and I am so lucky to have someone helping me to do it.
We use Skype for the lessons. It’s great to able to see each other. XuNi writes messages to me as we go, and I record the audio of the lesson. Later on I can listen to it again, and I print out the messages too, so I follow them as I listen. I want to remember as much of each lesson as I can. The time in the lesson is too valuable to use it going over the same thing too often. Each week, I try to use what I learnt the previous week. I want XuNi to realise that what she tells me really isn’t being wasted!
