Condom, France

by cjj on October 9, 2010

Condom is a very old town built of limestone. Very narrow streets make their way up the hill to town squares. There are a few old churches that seem to take it in turns to toll the time! At midday one church rings for ages, and I think it is telling everyone that it is time for lunch. All the shops and businesses close and the restaurants and cafes fill up for the next few hours! About 3pm or later, the shops start opening again.

How good is it that you can decide to stay in a town for longer, just because you feel like it. This town looks beautiful… it looks like sandstone, not limestone.

It is sooo gooood just being able to putt into a harbour, tie up and walk off into town! So much easier than driving and parking, and we have our house and bathroom with us!
