Legionnaires in Castlenaudary

Unlike the solders on the railway stations, these fellows loved us photographing and filming them. Even invited us to their party afterwards in this tent. No way were we going  to deprive the poor young men of their well deserved nourishment. 2 of them fainted while we were there. I  took nearly an hour of film of them marching up and down while singing … eerie and very beautiful at the same time. Then they stood in the sun for ages waiting to be presented with an award by some officials. A really fascinating afternoon.

A fantastic spot too. Near this old windmill on the edge of town, on a hill with a fantastic view.
See the pile of white hats on the steps of the windmill. It seemed it was a traditional thing to do.
