Medieval town inside the castle walls at Carrcassone

by cjj on October 25, 2010

This structure is a castle wall with a medieval town inside. It is a real town with lots of toursty type shops. I’m sure people would live there. We had lunch there and then wondered around the outside wall. There are a few places to walk through the wall, one doesn’t have to use the official entrance at all. The architecture was amazing to see up close. Lots of pigeons lived there, in holes in the wall and in pigeon towers.

Great photos Carm. Lovely town. Imagine what the castle looked like when the privies were in use… brown skid marks all down the sides!
