At a town called Mollans-sur-Ouveze we stopped and found a pub that was just a small room and seemed to be full of local families with young children. In one corner was a squat toilet. We had deux beers and deux Grand café au lait.

This picture is looking across a bridge, back towards the pub which has a red sign on the right among the foliage. That round structure near the bridge had a religious shrine in it. It was a really beautiful place built over a river that was the colour of glacier water just like we saw in NZ.

On the way back to the car I bought a baguette which lasted us till dinner back in Avignon. We tried 2 places to get food. At one place, after a while a lady eventually came into the shop and said ‘when I have finished what I am doing out the back, I will come and take your order’. We thought that was a strange way to treat customers, and after about 5 minutes decided not to wait any longer. The next place we tried, the young woman said we have finished with lunch. It was about 12 minutes past 1!
