Christmas beetle

Christmas beetle

These beetles are common here at this time of year, hence their name, and will hang around all summer. In large numbers they will do a lot of damage to eucalyptus trees. During the year we find them in the garden dirt as white curl grubs.

This particular beetle is a Anoplognathus pallidicollis. I found this out with the aid of wikipedia and google images.
